Did you know that vitamin D or zinc deficiency are common underlying contributing factors to depression, anxiety, frequent infections, allergies and autoimmune diseases? Or that children with ADHD may actually be suffering from vitamin deficiencies, food sensitivities or problems with their adrenal glands, which make it difficult for them to focus and pay attention? These are just a few examples of the cutting edge, holistic approach that Dr. Taketa-Wong utilizes in figuring out underlying causes or contributing factors to common medical conditions. She uses her knowledge of the latest research combined with nutrition to bring healing to many patients who haven't found solutions with the conventional medical approach.
Dr. Taketa-Wong has created a cutting edge approach that combines the latest in scientific research with a deep knowledge of natural medicine. This unique approach has brought real hope and encouraging results to countless families. This mastery of science and natural medicine is anchored by specialized laboratory testing and is what she employs in the treatment of all her patients, from special needs to autoimmune conditions, women's health, and numerous other health conditions.
For new patients, we review any existing tests to avoid duplication before recommending tests. This is because a patient's medical records combined with a clinical examination are sometimes sufficient for Dr. Taketa-Wong to make a diagnosis. The doctor is careful to only recommend testing that provides unique insight into the treatment approach. Many times, an advanced lab test can identify underlying issues that may have previously gone undetected, which helps bring about greatly improved outcomes.
For example, many children with autism who are aggressive are suffering from some type of chronic pain, often from problems like constipation, acid reflux, inflammation in their intestines, or headaches. These conditions are often linked to food allergies or sensitivities, which Dr. Taketa-Wong commonly tests them for. Many cases of aggression in autism resolve once problem foods are removed from their diet and the underlying medical problem is treated.
Our office provides patients with a lab order to take to either Clinical Labs or Diagnostic Labs where a blood sample is drawn and either analyzed there or sent to a specialized lab on the mainland. Some samples (such as saliva, urine, or stool) may be collected at home and then shipped to a lab.
