Women's Health

Picture
I believe that treating the underlying causes for what's going on in the body is a more sustainable long term approach.  Using these approaches, many women's health issues can be successfully treated using natural medicines.

Women's Health Conditions Successfully Treated:
  • Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS)
  • Menstrual/Hormonal Headaches & Migraines
  • Menstrual Cramps
  • Menopausal Symptoms (Hot flashes, vaginal dryness, mood swings, depression, memory loss)
  • Vaginal infections (Yeast infections, Bacterial vaginosis, etc.)
  • Interstitial cystitis
  • Endometriosis
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
  • Infertility

Conventional medicine treats many female health problems with hormone therapy or other medications which treat the symptoms.  Both may carry unwanted side effects.  I believe that treating the underlying causes using a natural medicine approach is a more healthful and sustainable, especially over the long term.

For example, PMS symptoms, menstrual migraines, and cramps are often caused by hormonal imbalances and can be related to liver function.  (The liver acts like a filter to help break down toxins and hormones in our body.)   Instead of pain medications or hormone therapy, I prefer to prescribe homeopathics, Chinese herbs, and acupuncture in order to help resolve menstrual problems.  This approach not only provides relief for immediate concerns, it helps build the body's strength over time as toxins are removed and nutrition is improved.

The patient plays a key role in her own health through better food choices, regular exercise, meditation, and qigong practices.  Using these approaches, most women's health issues can be treated successfully using natural medicine.
